SUMMARY:"Fit & Fun" Field Day
DESCRIPTION:The 4th Annual Fit & Fun Community Field Day will be held on Sunday\, May 17\, 2026\, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Lord Baltimore Elementary School playground in Ocean View\, DE. This annual community event brings families and local residents together to raise funds for Special Olympics Delaware\, supporting athletes and their families with free\, year‑round sports programs. Participants can look forward to a lively day of games and activities that focus on being active and celebrating the joy of play. This year\, 90% of all event profits will be donated to Special Olympics Delaware\, with the remaining 10% benefiting the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation to provide scholarships for local students.\n\nThe day will feature classic field‑day favorites such as the egg‑and‑spoon race and tug‑of‑war\, along with an inflatable obstacle course\, basketball game\, and bounce house to keep the excitement going. Fancy Face Painting will be creating colorful designs\, and the dunking booth is sure to draw a crowd as volunteers take the plunge. After some active fun\, guests can cool off with a refreshing ice cream treat while DJ Scott Mayhugh hosts the limbo contest and keeps the energy high with great music. His son\, Nick Mayhugh\, a three‑time Paralympic gold medalist\, has recorded an inspirational message for attendees as he trains for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Guests can also enter to win fantastic gift baskets donated by local businesses.\nRepresentatives from Special Olympics Delaware will be available to share information about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities\, and the Ocean View Police Department will be on-site to show their support.\nA heartfelt thank‑you goes out to all our generous sponsors for making this event possible.\nFor more information or to learn about donation opportunities\, please contact Lori Smyth at 302‑542‑4033.\n
